wood carving | 2010 - today (45)
dropping all pens and brushes in favour of really sharp blades: wood carving, a "new" technique I am using since summer 2010. using only finest chisels, it perfectly complements my drawing style. totally love the precision needed - mistakes are irrevocable ... on top of that, this is one of the most meditative crafts I have been working with so far.
note: if it doesn't say otherwise in the descriptions, these pieces are no wood prints. I cut right into the painted wood. | more info on these works: check the section "Into The Night" on this site, here! -
gone fishing (16)
documentation of an installation created around a small fridge at the PREVIEW art fair in Berlin. spraypainted and drawn on with markers, the full installation includes cans, markers and other tools of the trade, a demon catcher-suit and -mask, beer crates and (in the beginning mostly) full bottles. the whole thing goes in the direction of symbolizing what remains once we* have left. to go fishing. or just go. like in, you know, "the party's over". well. or when we've simply gone fishing.
needless to say that there was always fresh, ice-cold beer in the fridge that was free to take for those who dared to look inside. fridge & beer were kindly supplied by VELTINS. (* like in "the artists") -

six collaborational works boris hoppek and I did for our exhibition at factory fresh gallery in new york. first time ever we combined our styles for a visual discussion amongst friends. -
collages | new york | 2010 (16)

the crows are back in black | 2010 (13)
drawings on paper with china ink. highly mediative work with tiny brushes, no mistakes, drips or smudges allowed. also a small tribute to the ending winter (damn crows - really a first sign of spring? that early in the mornings??) and to some suicidegirls. first shown at factory fresh, ny.
added some work in progress pics at the end. -
Demon Circus | 2010 (9)
woa. those colors! I hear that all the time. must be disturbing if you change your color scheme ... done those for the exhibition "demon circus" at iguapop gallery in barcelona feb 2010. some pics from that show are here, and please check this video about creating the large piece and the wall on location. -
demons & ghosts (xxl) | 2010 (10)
three very large ink drawings on paper. if "the crows are back in black" needed a very steady hand and allowed for no mistakes, these were even tougher - working from a paper roll for many, many hours without drips and smudges ... gallery includes close-ups from details. -
The hero of 2morro rises in the golden child and cries: for the love of god | 09 (6)
Created for the group show "nachschlag!" curated by heliumcowboy artspace and No New Enenmies, “The Hero Of Tomorrow Rises In The Golden Child And Cries: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!” went from detailed drawing on wood to altarpiece. A tiny, elevated room at the gallery was converted into a shrine with paint, bark mulch, golden apples, tiny bells and cactuses. And just in case you want to go home, you are happy you didn’t throw away the key. (sold) -
my god steals from the garden (of ...) | 2009 (6)
Naked girls and the demons that haunt and taunt us. The old battle of good vs. evil - just pick a side and make sure it’s the right one. A very detailed ink-drawing on wood, it’s a good example of how technique can be used as a vital part of the theme: layers and layers of thin lines over thin lines accumulating to thick lines by drawing over and over them until density is balanced with the lightness. you don't know what love is | 2007 - 2008 (33)
The interactive installation “You Don’t Know What Love Is” has seen a total of three installments, starting in November 2007 with the set up of a church-like, dark prayer-room integrating the bar of the gallery in Hamburg and creating a room within the room. it then changed into a claustrophobic box for a show in new york 2008, which then travelled to hamburg for one final installation. this gallery contains lots of images from all set-ups, as well as work in progress pics. the details and background of the project can be read here. make sure to check the slide-show starting with the first image. (not available) -
magazine drawings | 2007-2008 (42)
drawn straight into the magazines with fine ink pens. on-the-road, instant artworks. still doing it from time to time, but never with such force as in 2007. this gallery contains most of these works that have been shown in hamburg and new york 2007 & 2008. others never got documented, some still linger in magazines lying around in the studio. or the trash. or ...
they've been presented in frames with mats covering up the torn edges. yep, I never use a scissor when working with magazines. (sold out) -
animal kingdom | 2007 (4)
The series “Animal Kingdom” is a humorous, subtle comment on mainstream pop culture, using early Punk songs in reference with dark but cute urban-art imagery.
all you boys are so tragic / standing in your poxy fashion gear / and your little fucking wankers / why the fuck do you come in here (So Tragic - The Exploited, 1982) (sold out) -
monopoly remix: collages | 2007 (4)
some collages shown and sold in miami 2007. pages all come from a german art magazine called "monopol" and depict artists or artworks or the art business. not randomly selected, they gotta mean something to me. goes both ways (bad, good, you know). and yes, that's bruce willis drawn over the first one. the works are pretty thick, as I've also modified the paper they are glued on. (sold out) -
sorry baby, I only got black and white to give | 2007 (10)
works on wood. just, erm, black and white, some with deep cuts in the surface (looks like left blank in the images here). worked hard to reach a perfectly matte black surface. 3-5 coats of paint minimum. (sold out) -
boxers and bishops | 2005-2007 (25)
this started as a visual, hmm, discussion with my friend boris hoppek. in 2005, he drew his first boxers, and because he doesn't know much about boxing, I tried to show him how they actually move. well. in small paintings. they are tiny - between 15x15 cm and 15x30 cm ... acrylic on wood. also added some sketchbook-pages with tiny boxers (the sketchbook itself is only 12x12 cm). and the bishops? go figure it out yourself. (sold out) -
unsorted, selected works from the past | 2004-2008 (38)
some selected works from the past, as well as some pages from the sketchbook. just a random picture gallery without additional information. well. it's just too much, really. and not all is that good, looking back in self-reflection. still, it may be good for documental reasons. (very few still available)
