after all the years that we've known each others, boris (hoppek) and i set out for factory fresh gallery in brooklyn, new york, for our first ever joint show. hosted by the amazing ali ha and ad deville, the couple behind factory fresh, we had a great time. and also finished our first collaborative works ever. while boris installed a nice pussy photo underneath a wedding dress (one of his up the skirt-installations), I added a collage on wood (demon skull) on location and installed the corresponding works on the gallery wall.

I had an amazing time with the crew from the iguapop gallery in barcelona! here are some images from my first solo show in spain in february 2010. thanks guys, that was incredible. give me a call anytime, I'll catch the next flight over... oh, and here's a video from setting up the show.

solo exhibition at heliumcowboy artspace, featuring the complete series "being alex diamond", which is also the subject of the book published by gudberg verlag. thebook was officially launched that night. amazing: live-performance by the makers of "schleck - das musical", jessica broscheit, andrew krell & max timm.

pre-launch of my book "don't worry 'bout a thing - being alex diamond" at urban outfitter's in hamburg. organised by gudberg verlag. built a demon installation for this. grab the book out of its teeth ... and the mulch. yeah I know. a bit silly. but good fun. here's the video about it.

collabo group show by no new enemies & heliumcowboy, curated by Harlan Levey and Jörg Heikhaus. Artists: 56K (D), Christophe Lambert (CH), Evie Haines (B), Ephameron (B), Nomad (D), Stephen Smith / NCC (UK), Will Barras (UK), Invisible Heroes /Admir Jahic and Comenius Roethlisberger (CH), Jon Burgerman (UK). topic was (food) waste, and there was actually leftover (but goooood & fresh) food donated by the schauspielhaus hamburg (theatre). I set up a small shrine around the painting "the hero of tomorrow rises in the golden child and cries: for the love of god!" in an alcove in the basement.

at the volta art fair in basel. the location was incredible - the former markthalle, a huge, unique, freestanding (no pillars) dome ... at the both with nina braun and boris hoppek, the heliumcowboy's showed some work from the "being alex diamond" photoseries. they also did nice stop-motion vids from set up, you'll find them here.

incredible exhibition celebrating 5 years of heliumcowboy. featuring over 30 artists, Music by DJ Sdag and a once-in-a-lifetime gig by THE AREA BOYS, the cowboy's (and girls!!) converted a complete wreck of former movie theatre of 1.500 square meters into an amazing exhibition. all info at their site, or check the modart video. One of my works was part of a great show at "le Botanique" - curated by No New Enemies's and modart's creative mastermind, Harlan Levey, the show combined a lot of artists from the vast NNE-Network, including Neasden Control Centre, Boris Hoppek, Bo130, Microbo, Morcky, the Boghe, Wayne Horse, Ado Jahic, The London Police, Will Barras, Jon Burgerman, Ephameron, Btoy, L’Atlas, RuediOne, and Smash137. Set up "The Myth of the white buffalo" for the first time. the whole mythology behind that work can be found in the section "paint & draw".

going solo in new york: the whole heliumcowboy booth reserved for alex diamond, we set up the installation "you don't know what love is" for the first time. situated in the center of the stand, it was a magnet for visitors, queueing up to get inside. felt more like a small, curated exhibition than a fair booth.

the exhibition "love me with a gun to my head" at hamburg's heliumcowboy artspace took way over a week to set up. the lower gallery floor was changed completely with a wooden structure from window to bar. the bar was enclosed in the first version of the installation "you don't know what love is". it changed into a freestanding, claustrophobic box only later (see scope new york 2008). highlight of the opening were max timm and andrew krell performing live and unplugged with a freestyle session that can be watched over at youtube (link)

basel. the mother of all art fair cities. in the center of the attention at the heliumcowboy-booth was a 5 m high cardboard installtion by boris. neasden control centre and me, the other two artists shown, went big as well, but only in regards to the size of the paper we used.

miami for the second time. all eyes on boris hoppek, as he was setting up his large cardboard tower in the entrance. just a few impressions from an eventful time in the sun.

the first time in miami. what a sick (in a positive way) place to be when the art fair circus is in town.
did a mural at the booth of the heliumcowboy booth. and other crazy stuff. not necessarily art related.
other famous people in this album: sam & tury from friendswithyou, david choe, kingdrips.

first time for the heliumcowboy's & girls to do a fair. that was fun. more like a playground, with a yellow-green island they did for friendswithyou, and other great artists such as moki, boris hoppek, patrick farzar, neasden control centre and a neat corner to myself.

so much black paint on the wall. a complete conversion of the heliumcowboy gallery, and an opening featuring kuku sina portnova on the decks and a live gig by the incredible barabass at the end of the night.
lot's of jigsaw-fueled woodwork, and first intense exploration of the tentacles. looking back, the result was still a bit too unpolished, but a great preparation for things to come.

where it all began. it is more or less all a blur now, but it was a good show with kitty2000 solo on the guitar and the guy from tomte as dj's. overall, a sweet evening with a strong fix of pimps and porn.
